Winning with Stress
A Day Long Course: Being Free and Effective in the Face of Life's Challenges:
Stress, experienced in one's personal life, in the challenges of family or one's work place, is reported to be the # 1 disease of our modern-day life. The annual increase in use of prescription medications is testimony to that fact.
Given the impact of stress in our culture it becomes apparent that there are very few effective strategies and methods for meeting stress as we encounter it. We are not very effective in meeting or diminishing stress in our lives.
The Winning with Stress Workshop
suggests the reason for this is we live in a common view (or paradigm) of stress that is not very powerful. It is a view of stress as something which happens to our bodies caused by certain pressures, events, and demands which are happening to us in our external world. This common view leads us to take up specialized activities meant to “de-stress” one's self – meditating, jogging, relaxation methods, getting away, stress-management practices, etc. This is our response to stress. After stress has hit. This is a little like closing the barn door after the horse has left. It might be too late.
However, in the field of psychology today, there are presently new and exciting ideas regarding stress which provide you with an ease and effectiveness of response, immediately, as stress appears in your life! This way we can become proficient at “dissolving” stress as it appears. We become a true “state manager.”
There are understandings that allow us this kind of power to take care of ourselves in all circumstances!
The purpose of "Winning With Stress" is to present this powerful new paradigm.
