EFAP Professional Staff
The Victoria Family Institute has a skilled team of professionals available to respond to a wide variety of life challenges:
Paul Beckow M.Sc. R.P.C.
Paul has provided counselling and therapy to individuals couples and families for over twenty years. He is the Founder and Director of the Victoria Family Institute EFAP. Paul received his post-graduate training in individual, couple, and family therapy with psychiatrist Dr. Robert Shaw at the Berkeley Family Institute. He has completed studies in Contextual Therapy, a model of therapy committed to rapid transformation of troubling issues in people’s lives.
For ten years Paul provided clinical supervision and consultation to treatment staff for children and their families in residential treatment centers through the mainland. Further he was employed as a clinical consultant and child and family therapist with the Kamloops School District. Along with enjoying a busy private practice, Paul has been Principal and Director of Instruction of the Counsellor Training Institute. He has also taught courses in counselling practice for the University of Victoria.
Paul bring extensive clinical training and experience, insight and effectiveness to his work with his clients.
Dr Madelaine Ingimundson ( Registered Psychologist)
Madelaine has also been working in private practice here in Victoria since 1984. Her work includes individual child and family therapy. Madelaine’s areas of specialization include: loss and grief counselling, dealing with abuse and trauma, family and relationship therapy, critical incident debriefing, and consultation for health and wellness. For many years, Madelaine has provided consultation and training for mental health professionals and educators in Canada and The united States.
Madelaine has held teaching positions at the U of Victoria ( Department of Child Care) and the U of Ottawa ( Psychology ). She also has 20 years of experience working with First Nations communities throughout B.C., Alberta and Quebec.
Madelaine brings the gift of genuine warmth and compassion to her work.
Paul Peele M. Sc.D.C.P.
Paul is a registered Professional Counsellor and a member of the Canada Professional Counselling Association. Paul completed studies in counselling psychology and philosophy at the University of Victoria and Concordia University. He pursued post graduate training in the foundational program earning The Certificate of Professional Counselling at the Counsellor Training Institute and further completed the Diploma program graduating from two years of clinical supervision.
Founder and principal therapist of the Odyssey Counseling center, Paul has maintained his private practice here in Victoria. Other professional involvements include contract work for the ministry of health, and clinical Counselling services provided to the Counselling Services Canada.
Paul’s life long passion has been to discover, and assist others to discover, their freedom, their own resourcefulness and satisfaction, in the face of life’s challenges.
Susan Broadfoot
Susan Broadfoot is an experienced mediator, facilitator and trainer. She has joined the EFAP team to offer skills in the mediation and resolution of conflict as it may appear in the family and/ or in the work place. Susan practices mediation in a wide range of areas including work place conflict, family breakdown, parent and teen, child protection, business civil matters and community issues.
Susan completed the Conflict Resolution Certificate Program with the Justice Institute of B.C. in 1988. She served for six years as Executive Director of the Conflict Resolution Center, a community based non profit mediation and training organization. She is a Mentor in the court mediation program which offers a practicum in civil matters for new mediators and a Child Protection mediator for the Province. Susan is also a board member For Family mediation Canada and an Instructor at the Institute for conflict Analysis and Management.
Susan is highly skilled at what she does and produces clear and tangible results in her work.
Sam Weller
Sam is available on our EFAP resource team for employees who may require support and consultation with their personal financial family planning and management.
Sam comes to the VFI EFAP with a wealth of experience in finance, budgeting, and general management gained in the public, private and the not-for-profit sectors. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia, and holds a Masters of Business Administration from the City University in Seattle, Washington.
Sam was Director of Finance for the District of Sechelt from 1994 - 2003 and the municipality of Richmond from 1989 - 94. Sam has been a member of a number of boards including Capilano College, Government Finance Officers of BC, and Community Futures Development Corporation.
